Because we believe in the attainment of perfection, we make the purpose of our lives advancement along the path to it. When we do so, we cannot choose a life of goodness. This is of tremendous significance. The pursuit of perfection, whether for the individual or the many, is about achieving a well defined goal. Goodness, however, is a quality of being and the action that naturally flows from it. Perfection is in the future, goodness is in the present moment. Perfection is about what is most desired, goodness is about what is right and best. Perfection is about me and mine, goodness is about the entirety. Perfection is about supremacy, security, and pleasure, goodness is about selfless love.
There is that which is perfect, but it is not in the future. It is not an achievement, it is not limited, and nothing is excluded from it. Perfect is not temporary it is eternal, and it is never threatened for it can be nothing else. Perfection is a process; perfect is an essential and universal nature.
When we embody goodness we begin to experience that which is perfect. When we seek perfection we experience disappointment and compromise. There is no struggle or failure when we live in goodness, and goodness need never end. The path to perfection always ends and it ends in imperfection.
