There are two reasons why God does not want you to believe. The first is God doesn’t want anything. Wanting or any other form of desire is a trait of organisms and egos, and neither category applies to God. The second reason is that belief represents a failure to continue exploration until discovery occurs. When exploration stops, and the wallpaper of belief is used to hide the fact of our ignorance, our opportunity to see truth comes to an end.
Belief should not be confused with faith, and faith should not be construed as belief. Faith is a surrender to the truth of this universe. It is a humbling of the ego and a silencing of the fears and desires that have gained a voice. Belief is false knowledge which is used to comfort and inspire. Belief is the end of questioning and challenging. It is the end of the search and the death of intelligence. To have faith is to stand in silent awareness, naked before the universe. To have belief is to wrap one’s self in words and phrases, to cover one’s eyes with familiar pictures and images, and to turn one’s back on the challenge of seeing truth, including the truth of God.
